Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]I am once again posting an unpleasant data breach on the blog that affects lessees in Europe. A reader has informed me that reduced value reports from TÜV Rheinland and Dekra inspectors are freely available on the Internet. It is therefore very easy to see when which vehicle was returned with which defects at the end of the leasing contract. Includes vehicle data and also personal data of the assessor. I reported the matter to the relevant data protection authorities in August, but nothing happened, so I am now disclosing it.

Due to a configuration error, the data of 3.5 million European customers was openly available on the Internet. It was therefore possible to see who had bought glasses there. Following a report, the provider quietly closed the leak.

Windows 11 24H2: Microsoft confirms wrong display in disk cleanup

Windows[German]In Windows 11 24H2, Disk Management displays a data area of approx. 8.3 GB that was left over from the installation but cannot be deleted. Microsoft has now confirmed that this data area is displayed incorrectly and cannot be deleted.

Trouble with the new Outlook app: forced update and sluggish behavior?

[German]Quickly asked about the status of the switch to the new Outlook app. There is an indication that the last Windows 10 update from October 2024 will carry out a forced update. And there was feedback that the new Outlook app is behaving sluggishly over time (it's fixed now). Microsoft classified the new Outlook as "business-ready" a few weeks ago.

Windows[German]There are currently discussions that Microsoft's controversial Recall feature cannot be uninstalled [without collateral damage] under Windows 11 24H2, contrary to Microsoft's promise – but this is currently still in flux. In addition, Microsoft seems to have introduced something like "poor mans recall" in the snipping tool in Windows. I'll take up the two facts here in the article and summarize what I currently know.

Microsoft lost log data from security products in the cloud …

There is a report of a bug with Microsoft's cloud services that means that log files from security products in the Microsoft cloud have not been saved reliably. Some log files appear to be lost forever. This could prevent threat detection for Microsoft's cloud customers – which in turn raises security concerns about the reliability of Microsoft as a company and its cloud services.
