EasyPark victim of a cyberattack, data extradicted (Dec. 2023)

Nice, EasyPark play its down and wrote, "there was a breach of non-sensitive customer data".  "Thankfully", only data such as email address, telephone number, address or parts of card details were stolen. What could have happened if "non-sensitive data" had been stolen. Here is an overview of the facts.

Windows 11 update KB5033375 can prevent Wi-Fi access (WPA2 Enterprise Wireless)

Windows[German]Users of Windows 11 22H2-23H2 who have installed the cumulative security update KB5033375 from December 2023 may run into problems with Wi-Fi access. There are now reports that WPA2 Enterprise Wireless is broken due to the update. Universities are now warning against installing the update and recommending that affected users uninstall it. Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool (KB5034510) fixes HP Smart App bug

Windows[German]A small addendum from last week: Microsoft has published a support article and a Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool under KB5034510, which is intended to help resolve a problem that occurred at the end of November 2023. At that time, incorrect metadata caused the HP Smart app for HP printers to be installed under Windows and the printer entries to be changed to HP devices.

Microsoft declares Windows legacy console mode as deprecated

Windows[German]The list of discontinued Windows features that will be removed at some point is getting longer and longer. After Cortana and the WebDAV client were already declared as deprecated in November 2023, Microsoft also declared the speech recognition introduced in Windows Vista as "deprecated" at the beginning of December 2023. And now the legacy console mode under Windows has also been deprecated and will no longer be installed in future versions of Windows.

Microsoft Teams: Clients older than 3 months will no longer work from April 2024

3CX warning: Disable SQL database integrations (Dec. 15, 2023)

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Warning to customers of the telephone system provider 3CX who have integrated an SQL database into the software for CRM purposes. The manufacturer recommends temporarily deactivating this SQL database integration. Although there are no details of what is wrong, the provider issued in a security warning which SQL databases and software versions are affected and how the SQL connection can be deactivated in the Management Console.

Edge 120.0.2210.77

EdgeMicrosoft has released an update of the Edge (Chromium) browser in the stable channel to 120.0.2210.77 on December 14, 2023. Thanks to the reader for pointing this out. The release notes simply state "Fixed various bugs and performance issues." It also states that the vulnerability CVE-2023-36878 has been closed. I do not know whether the bugs reported in the comments of this German article have been fixed.

Windows: December 2023 updates fail with error 0x8007000D

Windows[German]I have got various reader reports about the installation error 0x8007000D in connection with the security updates for Windows that were rolled out on December 12, 2023. The problem is already present with the October 2023 updates, where the error occurred under Windows 10, through the cumulative updates. In the meantime, I have also received reports about Windows Server 2022. I'll summarize all the reports and have also named some causes that I have already come across.

ChromeThe release of Google Chrome 120.0.6099.109 only lasted a few hours – apparently not all users received the update. Google has since announced the relevant entry in the Google blog that Chrome for Windows has been updated to version 120.0.6099.110 in the Extended Stable Channel.
