After the takeover, partners were terminated and the license conditions for VMware products were changed, which effectively increased prices. Since then, customers have been looking for alternatives. Spoofing vulnerability allows emails to be sent under Microsoft's name

Mail[German]An unpleasant story: There is a vulnerability in Microsoft's email services that allows third parties to send emails on behalf of Microsoft. As far as I know, Microsoft has confirmed this bug, but has not yet patched it. This means that you should expect phishing emails from Microsoft accounts.

Windows 11: Word printing issues (no graphics, blank page when PDF reader is installed)

[German]I have received reports about printing issues in Word. One reader reports that blank pages are printed in Word when PDF readers are installed. Several readers writes that graphics in .doc files are no longer printed from Word.

VMware by Broadcom signs agreement with Dell, Microsoft, Lenovo and HPE

[German]VMware by Broadcom has signed new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) agreements with the three major hardware vendors Dell, HPE and Lenovo. And there is an agreement with Microsoft for transferring VCF licenses to Azure VMware Solution.

Windows 10 Update KB5036979 bug: Right-click shows 'Open With' dialog

Windows[German]A short addendum to the preview update KB5036979 from April 23, 2024 (and subsequent updates). Unfortunately, a bug has "slipped" into this update, which is eating its way through the systems of Windows 10 users. As soon as one of the updates is installed, right-clicking on certain entries in the taskbar or Start menu runs amok. An Open with dialog is displayed instead of the context menu, as Microsoft has confirmed.

Windows 11 24H2 may break some SMB NAS connections

Windows[German]There are still a few days to go before Windows 11 24H2 is generally rolled out. However, the Windows Insider release preview builds show where there may be problems. One problem area is the SMB service or protocol, to which Microsoft has made some changes. This can lead to NAS drives no longer being accessible from Windows 11 24H2. Ransomware has shut down their production and administration worldwide. In the USA, employees are up in arms because nobody knows anything and the manufacturer is not paying wages.

Microsoft requires MFA for all Azure users; it begins in July 2024

[German]Brief information that should have been known since mid-May 2024. Microsoft wants to improve the security of Azure user accounts. Redmond is therefore making multifactor authentication (MFA) mandatory for all Azure user accounts. Implementation is set to begin in July 2024, but will be rolled out in stages.

Critical vulnerability CVE-2024-38428 in wget

CERT-Bund warns of the vulnerability, which is contained in wget versions <=1.24.5. An attacker can carry out an unspecified attack. Anyone using wget under Linux or Windows should take urgent action and stop using the program. Because there is no updated version yet.
