Windows 10: What generates masses of mat-debug*.log files?

Windows[German]I'm posting another topic here on the blog that a reader asked me about at the beginning of May 2024. He notes that the Defender Core service under Windows 10 Pro was started unexpectedly just over a month ago. Since then, the reader's Temp folder has been flooded with files with the pattern mat-debug*.log. There seems to be no configuration option. During a brief internet search, however, I found that these log files have been discussed in various scenarios since 2019. I am interested to know if anyone else has made this observation.

Veeam gets Proxmox support (soon) – Presentation in June 2024

Amazon[German]The provider of backup solutions, Veeam, had been thinking about supporting the Proxmox virtualization platform for some time. Veeam now plans to present this solution for the first time at the VeeamON 2024 event at the beginning of June 2024. So anyone who uses Veeam to back up VMware products and switches to Proxmox VE can expect corresponding support there too.

Windows Server 2019 Update KB5037765: Install error 0x800f0982 confirmed

Windows[German]When installing the May 2024 Patchday Update KB5037765 on non-English-speaking Windows Server 2019 instances, this process stalls error 0x800f0982. This error  has kept some administrators busy. While I proposed a workaround – install the English language pack – as a solution at an early stage, Microsoft has now also responded. There is a support article in which the error is confirmed.

Windows[German]Microsoft seems to have hit a colossal bug in the cumulative updates distributed on May 14, 2024 (second Tuesday of the month, patch day at Microsoft). The update KB5037765 intended for Windows Server 2019 fails with the installation error 0x800f0982. More than half a dozen readers have already reported the problem – it probably does not affect English installations. Strange cloud access to collector.azure.*

[German]I'm posting here an observation from readers that relates to Microsoft's Azure and Microsoft 365 services. Since mid-April 2024, there have been cyclical accesses to various domains that list "collector" as a subdomain. Virustotal probably has no complaints, so it's not a security issue. It is now clear to me what exactly is causing these accesses.
