Windows 11: (P-Core) problems with Intel hybrid CPUs and network drivers

Windows[German]Windows 11 contains pitfalls for gamers, video editing users etc. that the majority of users are not even aware of. A blog reader sent me the relevant information at the end of May 2024 (thanks for that). According to the reader, he had made the mistake of switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11. After that, the problem was that the desktop was jerky and the Steam client used could only use very low data rates for caching. The reason for this is insufficient distribution of the computing load to CPU cores (P cores are not used in background processes) in the Windows 11 default settings.

Windows 10: Microsoft opens beta channel for insiders

Windows[German]Microsoft has surprisingly opened the Windows 10 beta channel for Windows Insiders. The reason given for this is that they want to actively work with Windows Insiders on the development of functions. The beta channel is open to Windows Insiders who are currently using Windows 10. Participation allows Microsoft to test new features for Windows 10, version 22H2, with Insiders before they are released to all Windows 10 customers.

Windows: NTLM and Driver Verifier GUI declared as deprecated

Windows[German]Microsoft is continuing to remove features from upcoming Windows versions. In May 2024, the Driver Verifier GUI was already declared obsolete (deprecated) and will disappear in Windows 11. Microsoft has now followed this up at the beginning of June 2024, stating that it also intends to retire NTLM and remove it in future Windows versions. Below is a brief overview of these facts.

All .Net 6,7,8 updates pulled and re-released by Microsoft

Update[German]On May 14, 2024, Microsoft also released updates for .Net 6,7 and 8 (I didn't mention this in the blog). As usual with Microsoft, "Do it again Sam" also applies here – somehow people don't get it right at the first shot. If we take away the prose, all that remains is the simple fact that the experts from Redmond have withdrawn all Net 6, 7 and 8 updates. The updates were then released again. What happened that Microsoft had to react so drastically?

Hacks at Santander and Ticketmaster via Snowflake accounts

In both hacks, user data was captured on a large scale and is now being sold on underground forums. The story becomes explosive because these hacks are probably made possible by compromised user accounts with the cloud provider Snowflake. The hacker or hackers claim to have obtained the opportunity to attack the two companies via a hacked account of a Snowflake employee. Snowflake denies this and says that weak user passwords of the two victims are the cause of the hack.

Microsoft Entra ID: Support for MFA by third-party providers (Preview May 2024)

[German]Small addendum that has been pending since the beginning of May 2024. Microsoft Entra ID now supports third-party MFA providers such as RSA, Duo, Ping and others. Microsoft announced this back in early May 2024 in a tech community post. The whole thing is still in preview and has been available since mid-May 2024. Check Point Remote VPN security update for CVE-2024-24919

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]There is a vulnerability CVE-2024-24919 in Check Point Remote Access VPN, which has been used by attackers for attacks since the end of April 2024. These steal Active Directory data in order to gain access to the victim's network and to look around the network further. Check Point has already issued a warning on May 27, 2024 – I'll post it here in the blog.
