[German]Microsoft is investigating a problem in which Outlook and probably other apps or applications are unable to connect to outlook.com or sporadic connect errors occur. It affects mail clients that want to access Microsoft mailboxes via POP or IMAP and Exchange connection. According to my research, Microsoft has changed something in the authentication of outlook.com on January 24, 2024, but it is not yet really clear what is going on. Tom Warren from The Verge noticed that the Edge browser opened automatically after a Windows update and displayed the tabs previously opened in Google Chrome. Warren hardly uses Edge at all. Other users have confirmed this "intrusive behavior" of the Edge browser.
[German]Short addendum from last week: Microsoft will retire the command line tool wmic.exe in the next version of Windows. The WMI command line utility (WMIC) provides a command line interface for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). The execution of the tool is already disabled by default in Windows 11 Insider Preview versions since January 29, 2024. As a replacement for this command line tool, Microsoft suggests using corresponding PowerShell queries.
