FBI/law enforcement shut down ALPHV/Blackcat ransomware group (Dec. 2023)

There had already been speculation for days that something was up. The FBI has also created a decryption tool, which is now being made available to victims to restore encrypted files.

Windows 11: Microsoft fixes bug in update KB5033375, that prevents Wi-Fi access, via KIR

Windows[German]A small addendum for Windows 11 users. This week I reported on a problem that prevents Windows 11 clients with certain chips from accessing Wi-Fi access in connection with (WPA2 Enterprise Wireless). As of December 19, 2023, Microsoft has confirmed the bug and is rolling back the affected fix from Windows 11 updates via KIR. Here is some information about this bug and the rollback.

EasyPark victim of a cyberattack, data extradicted (Dec. 2023)

Nice, EasyPark play its down and wrote, "there was a breach of non-sensitive customer data".  "Thankfully", only data such as email address, telephone number, address or parts of card details were stolen. Windows 11 update KB5033375 can prevent Wi-Fi access (WPA2 Enterprise Wireless)

Windows[German]Users of Windows 11 22H2-23H2 who have installed the cumulative security update KB5033375 from December 2023 may run into problems with Wi-Fi access. There are now reports that WPA2 Enterprise Wireless is broken due to the update. Universities are now warning against installing the update and recommending that affected users uninstall it. Microsoft has not yet announced anything about this problem. Thanks to the blog reader for pointing this out.

Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool (KB5034510) fixes HP Smart App bug

Windows[German]A small addendum from last week: Microsoft has published a support article and a Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool under KB5034510, which is intended to help resolve a problem that occurred at the end of November 2023. At that time, incorrect metadata caused the HP Smart app for HP printers to be installed under Windows and the printer entries to be changed to HP devices.

Microsoft declares Windows legacy console mode as deprecated

Windows[German]The list of discontinued Windows features that will be removed at some point is getting longer and longer. After Cortana and the WebDAV client were already declared as deprecated in November 2023, Microsoft also declared the speech recognition introduced in Windows Vista as "deprecated" at the beginning of December 2023. And now the legacy console mode under Windows has also been deprecated and will no longer be installed in future versions of Windows.
