Windows[German]Microsoft has released of security updates for all supported Windows versions (Windows 7 through Windows 11, as well as their server counterparts) as of Jan. 17, 2022. These updates try to fix the DC boot loop issue, the missing ReFS support, as well as the IPSec VPN connection issue, which are caused with the Jan. 11, 2022 security updates. Here is an overview of these special updates for Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022.

VirtualBox 6.1.32 released

Virtualbox[German]Oracle's developers have released Virtualbox version 6.1.32 on January 18, 2022. It is a maintenance update that is supposed to fix bugs of previous versions. It also improves the HVCI compatibility of the guests for Hyper-V.

Microsoft plans to acquire Activision Blizzard

Microsoft has announced its plans to acquire Activision Blizzard. Activision Blizzard is one of the leading companies in game development. In addition, Activision Blizzard is a publisher of interactive entertainment content. The planned acquisition includes franchises of the studios of Activision, Blizzard and King such as "Warcraft", "Diablo", "Overwatch", "Call of Duty" and "Candy Crush". That's what Microsoft wants to cost itself the small sum of about 60 billion euros.

Europol took down VPNLab.net, which has been used by Cybercriminals

The VPN services were used, for example, in ransomware infections. The disruption of the infrastructure is intended to deprive cybercriminals of the opportunity to use such VPN services.

REvil ransomware Group took down in Russia by FSB

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reportedly raided homes and arrested suspected members of the REvil ransomware group at the request of U.S. law enforcement. In the process, 500,000 euros and 600,000 US dollars in cash were seized. The whole thing must have happened yesterday, Friday, January 14, 2022 in various Russian cities.
