Windows Server 2022 generally available, confusion in Essentials, no Hyper-V Server 2022

Windows[German]On September 1, 2021, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows Server 2022. The release had already taken place in August 2021. However, there is confusion as to whether there will still be a Windows Server Essentials 2022. And Hyper-V Server as a standalone product will no longer exist for Windows Server 2022, this license variant is being phased out. I'll pull the current status together separately in a blog post.

No Hyper-V Server 2022, Hyper-V-Server is dead

Windows[German]Microsoft released its Windows Server 2022 last month without much notice (see Windows Server 2022 LTSC released). Because users have already asked whether there is also a Hyper-V Server 2022, I'll cover it in a separate article. The bad news is simple: Hyper-V as a separate server, which may be used free of charge, is dead. Microsoft is on the cloud trip.

Will Windows 10 21H2 (build 19044) be the last feature update?

Windows[German]With Microsoft now putting its focus and resources to Windows 11, what's with the Windows 10 development? We will still see a feature update to Windows 10 version 21H2 in the coming weeks. But with build 19044, the last development branch for Windows 10 might have been initiated. So far, there's been no sign of a 22H1 in the Insider channels, and a tweet from Microsoft employee Brandon Le Blanc could further fuel that theory.
