Since Windows 10 will no longer be supported in October 2025, Windows 11 is the only option for many users. [German]It's simply marvelous how the Digital Markets Act of the European Union (EU) works. Microsoft has now announced that it is changing its approach in Windows 10 and 11, no longer making Edge the default browser for users, making the Store uninstallable and adapting certain apps and the search function – but only for users in the EEA.
Anyone considering using Google Pay on their smartphone and entering PayPal as a payment source in the Google Wallet app should perhaps wait. In any case, Google is kicking out this payment provider in the USA.
[German]A somewhat unconventional design decision by the Windows developers makes it possible for attackers to locally override group policies for users (user group policies). Normal user rights and a dll file shipped with Windows are sufficient. Microsoft has no plans to solve this problem, that might be around since over 25 years. This is the conclusion of a discussion between security researcher Stefan Kanthak and the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) team. Administrators noticed that the PowerShell Script Enforcement in AppLocker/WDAC had been broken for months.
