Gimp 'deletes' cut outs of an image by a 'transparency mask’
[German]The graphic processing program Gimp has a strange behaviour, that could cause serious privacy issues. If a user 'cuts out' an image section, to remove sensitive parts, these pixels are not deleted in the saved graphics file. Instead the pixels are only hidden by a transparency mask in an alpha channel. This can lead to the fact that supposedly removed (confidential) image contents can be restored, removing the alpha channel.
BSI recommendation for smartphones: 5 years of updates
[German]German BSI (Federal Office for Information Security) has written down some security requirement for new smartphones. Consequence: You cannot buy Android devices anymore. Also Windows 10 devices might be kicked, if such gadged are available. And App? Will facing also trouble.
Espionage: Cloud Snooper communicates via firewalls
[German]Security experts at SophosLabs have discovered a new cyber attack using spyware. The malware has been christened Cloud Snooper, implants a rootkit and communicates across firewalls. The spyware was found in the Amazon cloud on a Linux server. The malware can also infect Windows systems.

[German]Microsoft has released this night an ISO install image of the upcoming Windows 10 version 2004. It is still an insider preview – but it could be the final version for the release.
Microsoft Chromium Edge Rollout via Windows Update started
[German]Microsoft has begun with the rollout of the Chromium-based Edge Browser via Windows Update. Currently it only affects Windows Insider in the Release Preview Ring. The browser will be rolled out on more machines in the coming weeks.

Security Update: Edge 80.0.361.62 released
[German]After Google updated the Chrome browser with a security update (see Security Update Chrome 80.0.3987.122 (25.2.2020)), Microsoft's developers also released the Edge browser version 80.0.361.62 (based on the Chromium security update). According to ADV200002, this version fixes the two vulnerabilities CVE-2020-6407 and CVE-2020-6418.
