[German]Microsoft is working hard to push its new Teams 2.0 client into the user community. Even if the old Teams client is still available for a while, IT decision-makers may sooner or later be faced with the problem of how to operate the new Teams 2.0 application in an environment with Vmware Horizon. One user has addressed the issue and outlined the pitfalls.
[German]On May 14, 2024, Microsoft also released updates for .Net 6,7 and 8 (I didn't mention this in the blog). As usual with Microsoft, "Do it again Sam" also applies here – somehow people don't get it right at the first shot. If we take away the prose, all that remains is the simple fact that the experts from Redmond have withdrawn all Net 6, 7 and 8 updates. The updates were then released again. What happened that Microsoft had to react so drastically?
[German]On May 29, 2024, Microsoft published the preview update KB5037853 for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2. Its fixes are to be rolled out to all systems on Patchday in June 2024. It has now emerged that this update is associated with problems that affect the Windows 11 taskbar.
[German]This week, hacks of Santander Bank and the ticket provider Ticketmaster became public. In both hacks, user data was captured on a large scale and is now being sold on underground forums. The story becomes explosive because these hacks are probably made possible by compromised user accounts with the cloud provider Snowflake. The hacker or hackers claim to have obtained the opportunity to attack the two companies via a hacked account of a Snowflake employee. Snowflake denies this and says that weak user passwords of the two victims are the cause of the hack.
[German]Small addendum that has been pending since the beginning of May 2024. Microsoft Entra ID now supports third-party MFA providers such as RSA, Duo, Ping and others. Microsoft announced this back in early May 2024 in a tech community post. The whole thing is still in preview and has been available since mid-May 2024. [German]There is a vulnerability CVE-2024-24919 in Check Point Remote Access VPN, which has been used by attackers for attacks since the end of April 2024. These steal Active Directory data in order to gain access to the victim's network and to look around the network further. Check Point has already issued a warning on May 27, 2024 – I'll post it here in the blog.
[German]One more addendum: The EU and the Digital Service Act (DSA) are working. While Microsoft has been rolling out the half-finished Copilot with Windows 10/11 in many countries for months, Redmond has only been working with the brakes on in the EU. Now, with the release of the Release Preview version of Windows 11 24H2, it has become known that users in the European Union (EU) can only obtain Copilot as an app from the Microsoft Store. [German]This smells like trouble for administrators in enterprise environments, where the Edge browser is usually used. A blog reader informed me that the Edge had updated to version 125.0.2535.67, although this is definitely not released in the WSUS.
