OTORIO DCOM Hardening Toolkit for Windows for OT systems released

Microsoft has documented and patched this, and plans to release a final one in March 2023, however. Security vendor OTORIO has released an open source DCOM hardening toolkit for OT systems in advance, which companies can use to analyze their DCOM environments and harden them if necessary.

Google Chrome Version 109.0.5414.119/.120 and 108.0.5359.215

Windows 10/11: Microsoft confirms Taskbar issues with Barco ClickShare app calendar integration

Windows[German]Small addendum to a problem of the last 14 days. Users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 may suffer from the fact that the taskbar does not work anymore. Especially from the business sector I know of some reports. Cause can be among other things the application ClickShare from Barco – I had reported about it. Now Microsoft has confirmed the problem and given some hints.

Windows Server 2012 / R2: Edge gets support until October 10, 2023

Edge[German]A few weeks ago, it was announced that Microsoft had discontinued support for the Edge browser as of January 2023 for Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 and actually Windows Server 2012 / R2 (Edge version 109 is the last supported version). Now Microsoft has announced that support for the Edge browser on Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 will continue until October 10, 2023 (thanks to blog readers for the tip).

BIOS Bug on MSI Boards prevents Secure Boot

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Small addendum from this week about a bug on a mainboard from MSI. A bug in the BIOS/UEFI of various board models prevents Secure Boot from being used – even if the BIOS setting is set to On. The Polish student Dawid Potocki recently came across this bug. Users have to change the default BIOS/UEFI setting in order for Secure Boot to work correctly and actually meet Microsoft's requirements for Windows 11.
