Printing issues in Edge 109 branch – special characters like umlauts are the problem

Edge[German]Some Microsoft Edge users are experiencing massive printing  issues with the 109 development branch. For example, quick printing no longer works for some users. For other users, the printing process crashes. After investigations, it became obvious, that the Edge 109 on Windows has printing issues, when the printer name contains special characters such as German umlauts. Serious vulnerability InRouter firmware from InHand Networks threatens robots, electricity meters, med. devices etc.

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Security researchers have discovered a severe security vulnerability CVE-2023-22598 in the InRouter firmware from manufacturer InHand Networks GmbH. The vulnerability, with a CVE value of 10, leaves thousands of wireless IIoT devices vulnerable to remote code execution via the cloud. Vulnerabilities in the absence of a patch range from industrial robots to smart electricity meters to medical devices.

Edge 109.0.1518.52/55; enables password transfer to the cloud …

Edge[German]Microsoft has updated the Edge browser in the stable channel several times since Jan 12, 2023 (on Jan 12 to version 109.0.1518.49, on Jan 13 to 109.0.1518.52). In addition, Edge 109.0.1518.55 seems to have been waiting in the wings since 1/16/2023 (I haven't found any release notes yet). I now have a report that the Edge suddenly enables the transfer of passwords to the cloud when a Microsoft account is set up. And the Edge 109.0.1518.55 puts a shortcut icon on the desktop, which only administrators can delete.

Still SQL issues in Access after Office and Windows January 2023 updates

[German]Microsoft believe they have fixed the ODBC connection issue on SQL databases with the January 10, 2023 security updates for Windows. But I  received a report that there are still issues with Access. In addition, I have received a report that the January 2023 updates for the C2R versions of Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 also cause issues with Access and SQL database access.

Windows deleted shortcuts; Microsoft explains Windows Defender ASR issue Jan. 13, 2023

Windows[German]Yesterday, Friday, January 13, 2023, Microsoft pretty much knocked out parts of its Windows user base by rolling out a buggy Defender signature via update. With ASR enabled, shortcuts were detected as malicious in Windows and deleted from the desktop, Start menu or Windows taskbar. Now Microsoft has confirmed the problem and revealed some details.

NortonLifeLock: Attack from 1.12.2022 on user accounts and possible access to Password Manager accounts

There was a credential stuffing attack on NortonLifeLock users' accounts in December 2022. The vendor believe that the attackers were successful on a number of user accounts and gained access to the Password Manager accounts.
