[German]On November 16, 2022, an unknown person offered a huge data set with approximately 487 million WhatsApp user data in an underground forum. The data set allegedly contains WhatsApp user data from 84 countries. The leak contains also mobile phone numbers of the WhatsApp users.
As of November 10, 2022, Microsoft had confirmed a problem with gaming performance under Windows 11 Version 22H2 (see Windows 11 22H2: Game performance issues confirmed by Microsoft). Some games and applications may experience stuttering or similar issues. The cause is probably an unintentional activation of the GPU performance debugging functions. The upgrade lock set by Microsoft has now been relaxed, which I added in the above blog post.
Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a resolution labeling Russia as supporting terrorism. Hours later, the EU Parliament's websites were attacked by cyberattacks. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, confirmed the cyberattack on Twitter. IT experts tried to repel the DDoS attacks, but the parliament's website had limited access on Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2022). A group close to the Kremlin claimed responsibility. [German]Microsoft already announced last Friday, November 18, 2022, that they are now looking to broadly distribute their Windows 10 October 2022 Update (commonly referred to as Windows 10 22H2). This marks the beginning of the wide rollout, and the feature upgrade to this OS version is likely seen as ready for use in corporate environments.

The developers of the VLC Player have released version 3.0.18. The changelog lists minor fixes under macOS and other bugs fixed. The update is not yet offered in the VLC player. However, the download is already available on FTP server. (via)
[German]The French Ministry of Education has banned the use of free office solutions with US cloud connections such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in French schools. The reason given for this is data protection concerns, as the offerings in question are not in line with France's IT strategy and violate EU law.
[German]Vendor AnyDesk seems to have raised the prices for the use of its remote maintenance software considerably. I myself do not use such remote maintenance software, so I did not notice this. However, a blog reader pointed this out to me by email and provided some details.

For Microsoft SQL Server 2012, on the other hand, support ended on July 12, 2022, which means that Microsoft has also shut down the SQL Registry Portal. However, it seems that there are still a lot of installations of these SQL Server versions.
