WhatsApp leak: Nearly 500 million user data offered in underground forum (Nov. 2022)

The data set allegedly contains WhatsApp user data from 84 countries. The leak contains also mobile phone numbers of the WhatsApp users.

Windows 11 22H2: Upgrade safeguard blocking for reduced game performance partially lifted

WindowsAs of November 10, 2022, Microsoft had confirmed a problem with gaming performance under Windows 11 Version 22H2 (see Windows 11 22H2: Game performance issues confirmed by Microsoft). Some games and applications may experience stuttering or similar issues. The cause is probably an unintentional activation of the GPU performance debugging functions. The upgrade lock set by Microsoft has now been relaxed, which I added in the above blog post.

DDoS attack on EU parliament after resolution condemning Russia as supporting terror

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a resolution labeling Russia as supporting terrorism. Hours later, the EU Parliament's websites were attacked by cyberattacks. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, confirmed the cyberattack on Twitter. IT experts tried to repel the DDoS attacks, but the parliament's website had limited access on Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2022). A group close to the Kremlin claimed responsibility. Windows 10 22H2 in broad rollout (Nov. 2022)

Windows 11 22H2: Connection issues with remote desktop confirmed

Windows[German]Issues with remote desktop connections have been bugging Windows users for months. I had already reported about the problem in October 2022 in the blog post Windows 11 22H2: Microsoft investigates RDP issues. Microsoft has confirmed as of November 22, 2022 that connection problems with Remote Desktop Connections may occur in Windows 11 version 22H2. At the same time, it suggests measures to fix such problems.

VLC 3.0.18 released

Free Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace banned from France's schools

Paragraph[German]The French Ministry of Education has banned the use of free office solutions with US cloud connections such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in French schools. The reason given for this is data protection concerns, as the offerings in question are not in line with France's IT strategy and violate EU law.

AnyDesk raises prices for remote maintenance software (Nov. 2022)
