[German]I have received reports of problems with remote desktop connections under Windows when they are made via FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). The connections can then no longer be established. The problem has been occurring since October 2022 and a connection to the difficulties in connection with Remote Desktop problems seems to be given.
[German]A German blog reader had already asked in a comment if anyone had noticed a memory leak caused by November 2022 updates to Windows Server 2016. I was about to write a separate blog post asking for that, but Microsoft just beat me to it and confirmed a memory leak in LSASS caused by the November 8, 2022 security updates in various Windows Server versions. The problem can be mitigated with a workaround.

As of November 10, 2022, Microsoft had confirmed a problem with gaming performance under Windows 11 Version 22H2 (see Windows 11 22H2: Game performance issues confirmed by Microsoft). Some games and applications may experience stuttering or similar issues. The cause is probably an unintentional activation of the GPU performance debugging functions. The upgrade lock set by Microsoft has now been relaxed, which I added in the above blog post.
Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a resolution labeling Russia as supporting terrorism. Hours later, the EU Parliament's websites were attacked by cyberattacks. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, confirmed the cyberattack on Twitter. IT experts tried to repel the DDoS attacks, but the parliament's website had limited access on Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2022). A group close to the Kremlin claimed responsibility. [German]Microsoft already announced last Friday, November 18, 2022, that they are now looking to broadly distribute their Windows 10 October 2022 Update (commonly referred to as Windows 10 22H2). This marks the beginning of the wide rollout, and the feature upgrade to this OS version is likely seen as ready for use in corporate environments.
[German]Issues with remote desktop connections have been bugging Windows users for months. I had already reported about the problem in October 2022 in the blog post Windows 11 22H2: Microsoft investigates RDP issues. Microsoft has confirmed as of November 22, 2022 that connection problems with Remote Desktop Connections may occur in Windows 11 version 22H2. At the same time, it suggests measures to fix such problems.
The developers of the VLC Player have released version 3.0.18. The changelog lists minor fixes under macOS and other bugs fixed. The update is not yet offered in the VLC player. However, the download is already available on FTP server. (via)
