Cyber attack on Metro AG or just a IT break down? Austria, France, German (and more countries?) affected

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Gastronomy wholesaler Metro group is facing currently serious computer issues in it's stores – I guess world wide. First the question raised: Was there a cyber attack on the Metro Group in Austria? At least that's what the information I have suggests. But Metro says it's not known and talk about a "technical IT issue" with unknown root cause. In any case, for the past few hours, employees in Metro stores have been struggling with severe IT problems and have been unable to issue invoices, etc. Here is some information, what I know so far.

Microsoft data leak, customer data affected (Oct. 2022)

A security company found a misconfigured server with the data on the Internet and informed Microsoft in September. This is likely to affect some of Microsoft's customers, whose email addresses may have been leaked along with other data.

Windows 10 22H2 on MSDN and in Intune available

Windows[German]Brief information for users and administrators in the business environment. The just released Windows 10 22H2 is now also available for download as an ISO installation file on MSDN for subscribers (in the Visual Studio portal). In addition, Windows 10 22H2 is now also offered in Intune for installation on compatible machines.

Thunderbird 102.4.0 released

[German]The developers of Thunderbird have released another update to the email client to version 102.4.0 as of October 19, 2022 (thanks to the reader for pointing this out). It's a bug-fix update, which is supposed to fix a number of issues. Because somehow the 102 development thread of Thunderbird is a disaster (see Thunderbird 102er: The problem bear).

Firefox 106.0 and 102.4.0 esr released

Mozilla[German]Mozilla's developers have released the versions 106.0.0 and 102.4.0 ESR of the Firefox browser on October 18, 2022. The ESR versions are maintenance updates that are supposed to fix bugs. Firefox 106 is a new development branch. In both updates, vulnerabilities are eliminated.

Microsoft offers Update KB5018421 for Windows Server 22H2 …

Update[German]Microsoft has published security updates for Windows on October 11, 2022 – among others also the update KB5018421 for Windows Server 2022. So far so good – but now they already offer a security update for "Windows Server 22H2" – whereby it is unclear to me what this is about. It seems also that a new category with this name has been established in WSUS.
