June 2021 Cumulative Update for Exchange Server postphoned

Update[German]Microsoft normally releases the quarterly cumulative updates (CUs) for Exchange Server on the third Tuesday of the month. This would be regularly on June 15, 2021. The days Microsoft informed in a tech community post that the June CUs for Exchange Server will instead be released two weeks later, on June 29. In addition to bug fixes and incorporating previous security updates (SUs) for Exchange Server, Microsoft wants to take a little more time to finish adding a new security feature to Exchange Server. Out-of-band update for Windows 10 Xbox Game Pass bug

Windows[German]Windows 10 users complained of issues when trying to install or launch an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device. Affected people were redirected to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services. Microsoft had released some guidance on June 10, 2021 in the form of a registry intervention to resolve the issue (see this article at Bleeping Computer). Since this overwhelms many users, Microsoft released a special update KB5004476 on June 11, 2021, which is supposed to make these fixes automatically. Windows 10 V1909: Microsoft fixes blocked Teams/Outlook/OneDrive login

Windows[German]Update KB5003169 dated May 11, 2021 for Windows 10 version 1909 has caused issues, because logging into Microsoft 365 desktop client apps such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Outlook may fail. You may see error message 80080300 or "We ran into a problem. Reconnecting…" when authenticating or logging into Teams.

June 2021 updates disrupt taskbar with 'News and Interests'

Windows[German]With the June 8, 2021 security updates for Windows 10, Microsoft also forcibly introduced the "News and Interesting Topics" feature. In the meantime, some users notice that the taskbar function is disturbed and icons in the tray area (status area) of the taskbar are missing. Is once again a bug with announcement, since the problem already occurred in the preview updates at the end of May 2021.

Attention: Install June 2021 patchday updates quickly

Update[German]On June 8, 2021, Microsoft released security updates for Windows clients and servers, Office, etc.-as well as other products. The June 2021 Patch Tuesday release addresses 49 CVEs, five of which are rated critical. This is the third time in 2021 that Microsoft has patched fewer than 60 CVEs, cyber exposure firm Tenable writes in response, noting that the June release contains the lowest number of patches in a month this year. Nevertheless, users and administrators should install the June 2021 updates on machines as soon as possible.

Fire in Amazon data center? Blink cameras no longer work

[German]Blink is the series name of surveillance cameras from Amazon that can be found in many households. I am a bit suspicious of the Blink surveillance cameras, since they involve Amazon via a user account. But there's more to come. As it currently stands, Blink cameras are on strike in certain regions because an Amazon data center is "under fire." Addendum: It seems, that it wasn't a fire, it was a failure in a data center cooling unit. This shows how shaky the whole cloud construction is.

Next Windows: Windows 11, Windows Sun Valley or what?

Windows[German]Microsoft has announced an event on the topic of "next Windows" on June 24, 2021, where the future development of the operating system from Redmond is to be discussed. Until then, Windows Insider Previews will no longer be available for testing (see the article at deskmodder.de). In the meantime, the speculations revolve around the question of how Microsoft will name the upcoming Windows versions starting in the fall. Google Chrome 91.0.4472.101 with critical security fixes

[German]Google has released Google Chrome 91.0.4472.101 for Windows, Mac and Linux on June 9, 2021. It is a security update that fixes 14 vulnerabilities in older browser versions at once. The browser should be patched quickly, as the 0-day vulnerability CVE-2021-30551 is already being exploited in the wild.
