[German]A short note for administrators who use the load balancer LoadMaster from Progress Kemp. On February 5, 2025, a whole series of vulnerabilities affecting older versions of the software became public. The provider has released patches for these, some of which are rated "high" in terms of CVSS rating.
[German]There are vulnerabilities in older HP Universal Print printer drivers (PCL 6 and PostScript) for Windows. The background to this is that these printer drivers use the libjpeg, libpng, OpenSSL and zlib libraries and may have (older) vulnerabilities. HP has issued a security advisory and driver update on January 29, 2025.
[German]It currently that users of multifunction printers with a scan function that use a connection to a Microsoft Office 365 SMTP server are running into issues with certain devices. Users of Ricoh devices are receiving "Cannot connect to SMTP server" connection errors and an "SSL negotiation failed" message when scanning to Microsoft Office 365 accounts. Various Ricoh models are affected, for example, but also Xerox Versalink C7030, Kyocera or Sharp devices. The cause is likely to be a change to TLS 1.2 by Microsoft.
[German]Another "Beware of Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025" article for administrators who are considering the migration. There seems to be a problem with domain controllers on Windows Server 2025. Windows 11 clients seem to lose the trust relationship after 30 days and have problems renewing passwords.
[German]Microsoft has just discontinued the VPN service (privacy protection) integrated in Microsoft Defender. This VPN service for individual users is to be phased out at the end of February 2025. The use of this function does not seem to have been very widespread, as I read between the lines of the Microsoft announcement.

So what about the figures for Microsoft Windows distribution on the desktop? Windows 10 will no longer be supported in October 2025, so for many users, Windows 11 is the only option.

[German]The US cyber security authority CISA warns of a backdoor in the Contec CMS8000 patient monitor system from a Chinese manufacturer. A backdoor has been discovered in various firmware versions that enables data transmission and remote access. The devices should be isolated from the Internet or taken out of service immediately.
