EU court confirms billion-dollar fine against Google over Android restrictions

[German]The Court of Justice of the European Union issued a decision on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, regarding the fine imposed by the EU Commission on Google or its parent Alphabet. In Case T-604/18, the court largely upheld the Commission's decision that Google imposed unlawful restrictions on Android mobile device manufacturers and mobile network operators in order to strengthen the dominant position of its search engine.

Chrome 105.0.5195.5x fixes 24 vulnerabilities

Chrome[German]Google has released the Google Chrome 105.0.5195.52 update for Linux and macOS and 105.0.5195.52/53/54 for Windows on the desktop in the stable channel on August 30, 2022. The security update closes numerous vulnerabilities and fixes bugs. The 105.0.5195.68 for Android should be rolled out in a few days. The same goes for Chrome 104.0.5112.111 for Windows and Mac in the Extended Stable Channel.

Microsoft finds vulnerabilities in apps from major mobile providers (May 2022)

[German]The Microsoft 365 Defender Research Team has found some vulnerabilities in a mobile framework from mce Systems. The problem: This framework is used by some apps that mobile providers deliver preinstalled on their smartphones. Thus, millions of users were vulnerable via these apps. Even though Microsoft only investigated US mobile providers and they have updated the apps in the meantime, the incident once again shows how shaky the entire app model basically is due to the use of various frameworks.
