Exchange Online issue (EX694090) from 28, – 29, Nov. 2023 fixed

Mail[German]Microsoft's Exchange Online experienced a malfunction (EX694090) on November 28, 2023, during which the service was no longer  functional. Users were unable to receive emails via Exchange Online. However, Microsoft is trying to resolve the problem by redirecting mail deliveries. The service degradation continued until November 29, 2023, but Microsoft claims to have fixed the problem now.

Microsoft decommission the Technet Wiki, will be read-only from Dec. 5, 2023

Stop - Pixabay[German]A quick note for people who may have published content in the Microsoft Technet Wiki or would still like to access it. I have just noticed that Microsoft will probably remove or delete (decommission) this content in the future. This process had already been announced from time to time. But now there is an initial date for the next steps. The Technet and MSDN platforms decommissioning have been on the hit list for years. Here is a brief review and an explanation of what is at stake.

Google Chrome 118.0.5993.15 and 119.6045.199/.200

Chrome[German]Google has released updates of the Google Chrome browser in the Stable Channel for Mac, Linux and Windows to version 119.0.6045.199/.200 on November 28, 2023. Version 118.0.5993.15 was released in the Extended Stable Channel. The Android app of the Chrome browser has also been updated. The updates contain security fixes. Edge 119.0.2151.93

EdgeMicrosoft has released an update of the Edge (Chromium) browser in the stable channel to 119.0.2151.93 on November 27, 2023. Thanks to the reader for pointing this out. The release notes simply state "Fixed various bugs and performance issues."

Windows 10: Microsoft buries the "dream" of a support extension

Windows[German]ISupport for Windows 10 will end in October 2025; it will not be possible for many existing systems to switch to Windows 11. Recently, there was hope that Microsoft would offer a support extension for Windows 10 (possibly for a fee). However, Microsoft has now dashed this "dream" in a new support article – the announced end of support for "Windows 10, the 'last' Windows", as Microsoft once announced.

Outlook 2019: Crash when clicking "Send to"; and Outlook 365 deletes rules

[German]I'd like to summarize two topics related to Outlook that readers pointed out to me yesterday. It seems that a bug has crept into Outlook 2019 that causes the program to crash when "Send from" is selected. And another reader reported that Outlook 365 was deleting self-defined rules in its environment.

Intel Arc and Iris Xe graphics driver 31.0.101.4972 fixes Office problems (Nov. 2023)

Windows[German]Another small addendum from this week, which I'll pull out separately. Intel has released an update of its Intel Arc and Iris Xe graphics drivers to version 31.0.101.4972. This update is supposed to fix a number of problems (e.g. with Starfield (DX12). It is not documented that this graphics driver update under Windows 11 also fixes a problem in Microsoft Office which prevents Office documents from being loaded.
