HP toner: Purchase from distributor only after B2B registration?

Stop - Pixabay[German]Strange development in the area of printer consumables at the manufacturer HP. The fact that ink cartridges from third-party suppliers are blocked by firmware updates is nothing new. I have also discussed ink subscriptions for HP devices here on the blog. The latest twist, which was reported to me by a reader, is that registration with HP is now required to purchase HP toner from a distributor. So to speak authorized buyer, without this label there you can't buy HP toner.

Leak: New Office 2024, new Windows 12 are indirectly confirmed?

[German]Rumors about successors to current products such as Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 2021 have been around for some time. Now internal Microsoft documents (screenshots of an Office 2024 preview) and posts on X.com are providing fodder for new speculation that both a Windows 12 and an Office 2024 could be released in 2024. There is also speculation about a successor to Windows Server.

Shimano is a victim of the Lockbit 3.0 ransomware (Nov. 2023)

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Japanese manufacturer Shimano is probably familiar to every cyclist. Now the company has become a victim of Lockbit ransomware. At the very least, the Lockbit group has posted a corresponding publication on its leak page and threatened to publish data from November 5, 2023 if no ransom is paid. The creator has not yet commented on this.

Windows: Three more features are declared as deprecated in Nov. 2023

Windows[English]As of November 3, 2023, Microsoft has once again declared three features from Windows as "deprecated" (neowin has noticed this). This means that these functions will no longer be developed and will eventually be removed from Windows 11 (or its successor). In addition to the computer browser driver and service, the WebDAV client and service will probably mean something to some users.

Samsung Galaxy A51: Smartphone hangs after update in Odin mode "AVB Fail"

[German]It looks to me as if a software update (OTA update) has been "bricking" Samsung Galaxy A51 series devices since the beginning of November 2023. The devices remain stuck in Odin mode with the message "AVB Fail" during or after the software update. Fix for Android 14 storage bug on Pixel devices announced within 2 weeks

Android 14 users of Google Pixel devices have had an unpleasant experience, if they used multiple profiles. One user profile can then no longer be accessed. Google plans to deliver a fix for this bug within 2 weeks (i.e. by mid-November 2023). New Microsoft Teams 2.0 client mandatory from April 1, 2024

Teams[German]At the beginning of October 2023, Microsoft released its new Teams 2.0 client for macOS and Windows in general – after a beta phase that started in spring 2023. There is still a little time to upgrade missing functions and eliminate bugs. But Microsoft already announced at the beginning of November 2023 that the Teams 2.0 client will be mandatory from April 1, 2024 (no April Fool's joke). Currently some users (German, French etc.) are suffering from translation bugs.
