[German]Exchange Online administrators may have received a number of copies of their users' outgoing emails classified as spam in the last few hours. The cause was a spam rule causing false-positive spam notifications. Microsoft has confirmed the whole thing as Incident EX682041 and initiated countermeasures (disabling the rule). The problem should be solved with this.

Google Chrome 118.0.5993.88/.89

ChromeGoogle has released updates to the Google Chrome browser 118 in the stable channel for Mac, Linux, and Windows as of October 17, 2023. Sonicwall: Security updates for SonicOS close nine vulnerabilities

Sonicwall has therefore released software updates for SonicOS for their firewalls, that close new vulnerabilities (CVE-2023-39276, CVE-2023-39277, CVE-2023-39278, CVE-2023-39279, CVE-2023-39280, CVE-2023-41711 and CVE-2023-41712) at once. Windows Server 2019/2022: Updates KB5031361/KB5031364 cause Hyper-V issues

Windows[German]I got reports that update KB5031361 for Windows Server 2019 (and Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC) is causing issues with VMs running on Hyper-V. The same is reported for update KB5031364 for Windows Server 2022. The virtual machines cannot be started or are not found after installing the update. Uninstalling the affected updates fixes these problems again.

Windows 10/11: Microsoft Defender can no longer be disabled

Windows[German]I'm going to address an old issue that might affect administrators who are migrating clients to Windows 11. In some scenarios, applications run very slowly or the system or applications start sluggishly. The clients are underperforming, even if the application was sufficient for Windows 10. One reason could be that the applications or their network connections are slowed down by Microsoft Defender. In the meantime, however, it is the case that Microsoft Defender cannot be disabled under Windows 11 (now also under Windows 10) via policies or a registry entry. Only when using third-party antivirus solutions can Microsoft Defender be deactivated and put into passive mode.

Windows Server 2012 R2 is EOL; ESU license not for on-premises systems?

Windows[German]After releasing the October 2023 updates, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 have reached their end of support; there will be no more security updates in the future – unless customers buys an Extended Security Update extension (ESU license). Now an info from a reader reaches me that these ESU licenses are not provided for on-premises systems. But there is an alternative in the form of 0patch micro patches.
