Adobe Acrobat (Reader) DC 2022.003.20263 fixes install error "2251.Database: Transform"

[German]Adobe has released Adobe Acrobat (Reader) DC 2022.003.20263 as a hotfix on October 22, 2022. According to the telease notes , it fixes the installation error "2251.Database: Transform" that may occur during the October 11, 2022 update. I had mentioned the problem in the blog post Adobe Acrobat (Reader) DC 2022.003.20258; Installer Error 2251.Database: Transform. A reader wrote recently, that Adobe has indentified the root cause and released a fix for internal tests. That's now the relevant hotfix.

Edge 106.0.1370.52

Edge[German]Microsoft has released in stable and extended stable channel an update to Edge 106.0.1370.52 (October 20, 2022). It's a bug fix update, in the release notes it says: Fixed various bugs and performance issues for Stable and Extended Stable release.

Outlook stores IMAP password DAPI-encrypted in the registry

[German]Another little hint on Sunday. Microsoft's developers store the passwords for accessing IMAP accounts for Outlook in the registry. Is indeed DAPI-encrypted, but can be decrypted in the system with an API call. This approach is also used by tools to determine the password.

Issues with OneDrive for Business Sync Client caused by update KB5018410 (Oct. 22, 2022)

[German]Microsoft  is currently reporting various issues with the OneDrive for Business Sync Client. These range from problems when logging off, to the synchronization of a Teams website that does not end, to the problem that the OneDrive for Business Sync Client cannot be uninstalled. The whole thing is probably related to the (problematic) Windows security update KB5018410. Microsoft is currently working on a fix.

VirtualBox 7.0.2 released

Virtualbox[German]Oracle's developers had just released VirtualBox version 7.0.0 (VirtualBox 7.0.0 with Secure Boot and virtual TPM support), and now they have already pushed an update to version 7.0.2. This version is a maintenance update for bug fixes.

Confirmed: Metro Group victim of cyber attack

I had already suspected a cyber attack on the Metro Group in a post and I had reports from Austria, from France as well as comments from German Metro customers as well as employees. However, a cyber attack remained unconfirmed so far. Now Metro AG has confirmed such an attack to heise – and on its website.
