European Union decided on USB C charging cable as a standard

[German]The common European standard for charging cables for mobile devices, which is based on the USB-C interface, has been decided and can now come. Following the overwhelming approval of the European Parliament on October 4, 2022, the Council of EU member states gave its consent on October 24, 2022. New devices in the EU will have to be equipped with this interface by 2026 at the latest, but the standard will already apply from 2024.

[German]As expected, Apple has released its iOS 16.1 for iPhones and iPadOS 16 for iPads on October 24, 2022. This means that compatible devices can be updated to iOS 16.x or its counterpart iPadOS 16.x. Windows 11 22H2: Troubleshooter for upgrade blocker "printer driver" released (Oct. 21, 2022)

Windows[German]Microsoft has released a troubleshooter to fix printer issues last Friday (October 21, 2022). This troubleshooter helps against the compatibility issues with the drivers of certain printers on Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 confirmed at the end of September 2022. This can result in the printers only being able to be used with default printing options. Microsoft has blocked the feature update to Windows 11 version 22H2 on the affected systems.

IT issues at wholesale retailer Metro group after cyber attack: Will shelves in Metro stores soon remain empty?

Since last Monday, October 17, 2022, the Metro Group's IT infrastructure has been in  serious troble, as far as its stores worldwide are concerned. These stores are offline from the groups central IT systems, merchandise management systems are not available, digital touchpoints are also offline. This could result in shelves in individual Metro stores no longer being able to be filled because the goods in question cannot be ordered.

Google removes malicious 16 apps with more than 20 million downloads

[German]Google has once again had to remove 16 Android apps from a Google Play Store. The reason: The apps contain a "clicker malware" that is designed to commit advertising fraud. Apparently useful apps (flashlight, QR code, photos/camera) that had been downloaded by more than 20 million users were affected.
