Microsoft plans to acquire Activision Blizzard

Microsoft has announced its plans to acquire Activision Blizzard. Activision Blizzard is one of the leading companies in game development. In addition, Activision Blizzard is a publisher of interactive entertainment content. The planned acquisition includes franchises of the studios of Activision, Blizzard and King such as "Warcraft", "Diablo", "Overwatch", "Call of Duty" and "Candy Crush". That's what Microsoft wants to cost itself the small sum of about 60 billion euros.

Europol took down VPNLab.net, which has been used by Cybercriminals

The VPN services were used, for example, in ransomware infections. The disruption of the infrastructure is intended to deprive cybercriminals of the opportunity to use such VPN services.

These are supposed to fix the DC boot loop problem, as well as the IPSec VPN connection problem, which are caused with the security updates from Jan. 11, 2022. Windows Out-of-band Updates fixes Jan. 2022 patch day issues (Jan. 17, 2022)

REvil ransomware Group took down in Russia by FSB

In the process, 500,000 euros and 600,000 US dollars in cash were seized. The whole thing must have happened yesterday, Friday, January 14, 2022 in various Russian cities.

Firefox 96.0.1 released

Mozilla[German]On January 14, 2022, Mozilla developers released version 96.0.1 as a maintenance update of the Firefox browser to correct a bug. According to the release notes, there is a bug fix: Addresses proxy rule exceptions not working on Windows systems when "Use system proxy settings" is set. There are also improvements to make content length header parsing more robust. The new Firefox can be updated in the browser or downloaded from this website for various platforms (the variant is to be selected via the displayed list boxes).
