Microsoft files DMCA complaints over leaked "Windows 11" ISOs

Windows[Greman]A presumably early copy of a Windows 11 ISO installation file became public via a Chinese website a few days ago (see Windows 11 build 21996.1 leaked). While there were doubts whether it was a fake at first, Microsoft is now taking action against websites that offer the ISO for download. The website FOSSByte takes up the whole matter in the article Microsoft Confirms Windows 11 Existence And Leak In DMCA Complaint [Exclusive] and reports that Microsoft has filed DMCA complaints against the site operators.

Warning against data theft from used cars

Microsoft Edge 91.0.864.54

Edge[German]After the Chrome update (see), Microsoft has also updated the Edge browser and raised it to version 91.0.864.53 (and shortly afterward to 91.0.864.53). The update fixes various vulnerabilities that have already been fixed in Google Chrome. The release notes available on this page do not yet take this version into account.

Cisco switches: Security updates to close critical root vulnerabilities

Notepad++ 8.1 Bugfix Update

The developers of the Windows editor Notepad++ had to follow up the release of version 8.0 (dated June 7, I'd omitted) with a bugfix update to version 8.1 as of June 17. The release notes list problem with the auto-complete performance and a dialog with the "Save" label for the "Open" button.

Windows 7/Server 2008 R2: No more driver updates via Windows Update

Update[German]Systems running Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 will no longer receive driver updates via Windows Update as of June 17, 2021. Microsoft has just announced this in a Techcommunity post. The reason is an expired SHA-1 certificate. However, manufacturers can still offer drivers with SHA-2 signature, but this can lead to problems.

Update: Google Chrome 91.0.4472.114 fixes 0-day vulnerability

[German]Google has released Google Chrome 91.0.4472.114 for Windows, Mac and Linux on June 17, 2021. It is a security update that fixes 4 vulnerabilities in older browser versions at once. The browser should be patched quickly, as a 0-day vulnerability CVE-2021-30554, which is rated as high, is already being exploited in the wild.

Windows 10: Outlook 2013 fails, if virtualization software is installed

[German]Today a blog post about a crude problem reported to me by a user (thanks for pointing it out). The Microsoft Outlook 2013 used in the environment seems to have problems under Windows 10 from version 2004, if one is installed with virtualization software and an upgrade is performed from an older build. The mail client can no longer connect to an Exchange server.

Windows 10 SSU: Hurdles, bugs and new version KB5003974 (June 15, 2021)

Windows[German]I'm compiling some information for Windows 10 admins and supporters regarding Servicing Stack Updates (SSUs). There is a new Servicing Stack Update (SSU) KB5003974 dated June 15, 2021 for Windows 10 version 1909. In addition, the SSU dated June 8, 2021 is probably causing issues, and there is a pitfall with the SSUs integrated in LCUs in Windows 10 version 2004, 20H1.
