Are there Outlook 365 crashes again (December 2022)?

[German]Users of Microsoft Outlook (365) suffer from crashes every now and then, which occur after any updates. In September 2022 there was such a case, which was then fixed in October 2022. Now a user has contacted me who has Microsoft Outlook crashes again in his environment, with Microsoft's workarounds not helping. I've posted it here on the blog, maybe there are more affected.

Return of GodFather malware; targets bank customers

GodFather is a notorious Android banking Trojan known for targeting bank users, especially in European countries. Currently, the Trojan probably targets Android users in Turkey via the app called MYT Müzik, which is written in Turkish.

Thousands unpatched Citrix servers vulnerable via critical vulnerabilities

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Citrix has been releasing security updates for critical vulnerabilities in Citrix ADC and gateway products and issuing security alerts for them over the past few months. However, it appears that thousands of Citrix ADCs and Citrix Gateways are vulnerable with respect to vulnerabilities CVE-2022-27510 and CVE-2022-27518. The vulnerabilities allow an attacker to take over the affected instances.

Twitter have had issues (Dec. 29, 2022)

Stop - Pixabay[German]Twitter have had technical issues at 00:00 UTC on Dec. 29, 2022. The Twitter service hasn't running smoothly. When displaying various tweets, everything was still fine an hour before midnight. But currently (December 29, 2022, 00:50 a.m. UTC) I can no longer access some tweets. Messages are only displayed very slowly or I get an error message and see the information that I should log in again if necessary.

StackOverflow survey: Developers often use Linux systems

[German]The platform StackOverflow conducts an annual survey among its user base to find out where the focus of its members lies. The results are quite exciting in terms of the programming languages used, the cloud provider, the frameworks used or the operating system used for development. Linux, for example, is by no means leading a niche existence, but has even moved ahead of macOS, but does not yet come close to Windows – I would not have expected that.

Exchange Logo[German]Microsoft Exchange on-premises servers that are not up to date with the latest patches are vulnerable to attacks via the ProxyNotShell vulnerabilities. Then, a couple of days ago, there was information that the hacker group FIN7 had been setting up an automated attack platform to penetrate vulnerable Exchange servers. And now the information reaches me that possibly up to 70,000 Exchange servers worldwide are vulnerable to FIN7 ProxyNotShell attacks.

German white hat hackers buys US military biometrics equipment with Afghanistan biometric database at auction

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]German white hacker organization purchased several used U.S. military biometrics devices at auction through an online auction platform (presumably eBay). During the forensic investigation, it became obvious that the military and the manufacturer used irresponsible handling. Data located on the devices was unencrypted. The CCC gained access to a biometrics database containing the data of 2,632 people from Afghanistan.

Exchange Online PowerShell V2 soon deprecated, replaced by PowerShell V3

Exchange Logo[German]Brief note for administrators of Exchange Online instances. Microsoft announced in December 2022 that PowerShell V2 will be "deprecated" as of June 2023. From then on, the relevant PowerShell modules will no longer work. Anyone using PowerShell modules to administer their Exchange Online instances must have adapted their script before June 2023.
