[German]On May 13, 2025, Microsoft released numerous security updates for Windows, Office and other products. I promptly provided a brief overview of the vulnerabilities addressed. Security provider Tenable subsequently sent me their assessment of the vulnerabilities, which I am posting here on the blog for your information.
[German]Update KB5058379 for Windows 10 22H2 from May 13, 2025 causes the operating system to request the Bitlocker recovery key on boot and hang on some systems. Windows 11 also appears to be affected. Microsoft has now confirmed the bug for Windows 10 and the KB5058379 update.
[German]A small addendum for administrators of Windows Server 2008/R2. There were out-of-band updates for these operating system versions on May 13, 2025 to close security gaps. And for Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise LTSC, Microsoft has probably also released a special update to close vulneratiblities.
[German]The ReFS file system introduced by Microsoft in Windows a long time ago seems to be a "stepchild" of the developers. Bugs are never fixed – even with Windows Server 2025, the May 2025 patchday has not changed the problem that ReFS-formed disks lead to high CPU/RAM utilization, making the server unusable.
[German]Update KB5058379 for Windows 10 22H2 (and also the Windows 11 pendants) from May 13, 2025 has caused issues for some users and administrators. Windows was locked on affected machines because the system requested the Bitlocker recovery key when booting. There are also reports of blue screens caused by the update.
