John McAfee, the founder of the eponymous security software maker, is dead. He was found dead in his jail cell in Barcelona, according to authorities, hours after a Spanish court approved his extradition to the U.S. There are indications that the 75-year-old died by suicide.
[German]Mozilla's developers have released version 89.0.2 of the Firefox browser as of June 17, 2021 (hours after version 89.0.1). According to the release notes, the update fixes occasional hangs of the WebRender under Linux. [German]A ransomware called DarkRadiation targets Linux systems from Red Hat, CentOS or Debian-based distributions. Security vendor Trend Micro points this out in a new blog post. The malware does so using tools to detect the environment and then spread laterally across networks via spreader script.

[German]Security researchers from vendor Check Point have discovered four vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office through fuzzing. According to Check Point, products in the Office suite are affected, including Excel and Word. The vulnerabilities stem from outdated code and open up the possibility for attackers to execute malicious command lines via attempted Office documents.
[German]The developers of Tor Bundle have released version 10.0.18 of Tor Browser on June 21, 2021. This update is supposed to fix numerous bugs as well as a vulnerability that allows tracking the user.
