Windows[German]I'm summarizing two topics that have been lying around for a while in a collective post. It's about the possibility to install drivers in Windows 10. In Windows 10, Microsoft has made an update to the device manager in the Insider Previews at the beginning of May 2021 to better manage drivers. And a blog reader contacted me by email back in March about some driver installation oddities related to WSUS and Windows 10 that he noticed.

Windows 10 21H1: StrangeTaskbar issues after update KB5003214

Windows[German]It seems that the new feature "News and interests", installed with optional preview update KB5003214 is causing some nasty issues for some users of Windows 10 version 21H1 (and probably version 2004/20H2). First I got a report from one German user, but after publishing an article in German, other users confirming the issue – and I found more references within the internet.

Bulk Join for Windows Devices to Azure AD and MS Endpoint Manager

nVidia: Monitor remains dark at DisplayPort 1.4 during bootup

[German]It's a strange issue, that users of monitors on the DisplayPort have. The monitors remain dark (black) when booting the computer and do not display anything. Only when the operating system is loaded, a display appears on the monitor at some point. It seems to be due to the hardware or the installed nVidia graphics cards.

Edge 91.0.864.37: "Specific Page" won't load at startup

Edge[German]Microsoft's latest Edge update is causing trouble for users because a bug has crept in. Users can no longer set a start page that Edge automatically loads on startup. The browser simply ignores all settings in the Edge 91.0.864.37 version. Addenum: It seems to be a nasty feature.

New (Python) virus for Windows found with unknown origin

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]German blog reader Christian contacted me yesterday by mail because he encountered a virus (Trojan) at some of his customers that was not detected by Microsoft Defender so far. There is not much information about the virus yet – unfortunately there is no scan available at VirusTotal. But I'll post the information Christian has already found out – maybe someone of you will find more information.

Edge[German]Following the Chrome 91.0.4472.77 update (see Google Chrome 91.0.4472.77 with security fixes) on May 25, 2021, Microsoft released Edge 91.0.864.37 on May 27, 2021. The update fixes various vulnerabilities that have already been fixed in Google Chrome.

Disable and configure Windows 10 feature News and interests

Windows[German]Microsoft has introduced the "News and interests" feature in Windows 10 (first in version 21H1, later it was backported in 20H2) via update. An icon in the taskbar can be used to display the weather forecast as well as a feed with current headlines from news magazines. Since there are discussions within my German blog, I take up the topic and show how the display can be deactivated, for example.
