Windows[German]Microsoft has released an optional cumulative (preview) update KB5017380 on September 20, 2022 (C-Week). This is supposed to fix numerous bugs in Windows 10 21H2-21H2. Below I provide an overview regarding these updates for Windows 10. This update disables TLS 1.0 and 1.1.

Windows 11 2022 Update (22H2) released

Windows[German]A few hours ago  I speculated about the release of Windows 11 22H2 (see Will Windows 11 2022 update (22H2, build 22621) be rolled out on Sept. 20, 2022?). Now it happens, Microsoft has released the feature update to Windows 11 2022 Update a few hours ago. Both installation ISO files (via Media Creation Tools) and an upgrade via Windows Update are available to lift compatible machines to the new build.

Firefox 105, 102.3 esr released

Mozilla[German]The Mozilla developers have released the versions 105.0.0 and 102.3 ESR of the Firefox browser on September 20, 2022. The ESR versions are maintenance updates that are supposed to fix bugs. Firefox 105 is a new development branch. In both updates vulnerabilities are eliminated.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS beats Windows 11 on AMD's Ryzen 5800X3D processor

Windows[German]Amazing results recently revealed by a performance comparison between Microsoft's Windows 11 and an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Linux on an 8-core Ryzen 5800X3D processor from AMD. The benchmarks were run by Phoronix with various workloads, using fresh installations of the operating systems. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS clearly outperforms Microsoft Windows 11 in the benchmarks. The tests show that Microsoft still has deficits in running its operating systems on the AMD platform.

Windows[German]At the moment, there are more and more signs that Microsoft has the next "big" update for Windows 11 (22H2), which will be released on October 5, 2021, ready and will roll it out soon. There are new PCs that already contain this version – and installation ISO files have already appeared. I had already speculated in August 2022 that the Windows 11 2022 Update would be released on September 20, 2022.

iPhone 14 Pro Max: Camera shakes/rattles on TikTok, Snapchat apps etc.

[German]A nasty surprise for proud owners of an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Lexmark firmware update closes vulnerability and fixes Windows printer issue

On the one hand, these are supposed to eliminate a vulnerability in more than a hundred Lexmark printer models, which Lexmark already warned about in June 2022 (the update had to be withdrawn again). Furthermore, the firmware update is supposed to fix the USB communication problem in Windows, which was caused by the July 2022 security update.

Rockstar Games leak: source code and many game videos published after hack

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Game developer Rockstar Games was hacked. Now a user on GTAForums has posted 90 video taken from a test build of Grand Theft Auto 6. The hacker also claims to have the source code of GTA 5 and 6. The hack and leak is aimed at blackmailing game developer Rockstar Games, with the hacker also claiming to be behind the attack on Uber (see Ride share service provider Uber investigates hack (Sept. 2022)).

Data wiped in IHG hack for revenge, Vietnamese couple says

Chrome & Edge may send personal data (including passwords) to Google and Microsoft respectively

The Google Chrome browser, and also the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser, may transmit in some cases personal data from forms to Google and Microsoft (in the case of Edge). This also includes passwords, by the way. The Extended Spell Checker in the browser or in the MS Editor is probably responsible for this.
