Microsoft Office Patchday (December 4, 2018)

[German]For the first Tuesday of the month (Office Patchday), Microsoft has released a few non-security updates for Microsoft Office 2010, Office 2013, and Office 2016 on December 4, 2018. A Word 2010 crash bug caused by August 2018 security updates has been fixed. Microsoft is also starting a second attempt to make the Japanese calendar fit for a new era (the first attempt ended with the updates having to be withdrawn due to crashes).

Windows 10 Version 1809: Update KB4469342 V5

[German]Microsoft has released version 5 of update KB4469342 for Windows 10 Version 1809. The update is only available for testing for Windows Insiders. Yesterday I wrote something about that patch (see Windows 10 Version 1809: Update KB4469342 v4). The new version raises the build to 17763.168.1.10.

Surface Book 2: Update KB4467682 causes blue screens …

[German]Owners of a Surface Book 2 seem to be plagued currently by blue screens. The cause seems to be the update KB4467682 from the end of November 2018 for Windows 10 V1803. Addendum: Microsoft has confirmed this bug.

Windows 10 V1809: Morphisec Protector blocks upgrade

German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI): ‘Windows 10 is a Privacy Accident’

German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, BSI) certifies Microsoft in a new report – between the lines – that Windows 10 is a 'data protection and privacy accident'. Telemetry can hardly be switched off for normal users. According to the current report, the BSI is investigating the security features of the new operating system further. This is critical, because German authorities are using Windows 10.
