Windows 11 22H2 no longer supports Software Restriction Policies (SRP)

Windows[German]A brief note to Windows administrators who still rely on Software Restriction Policies (SRP). This security feature has been deprecated since 2020, but is still supported in Windows 10. But Windows 11 version 22H2 will definitely put an end to the use of Software Restriction Policies – App-Locker should be used instead.

McAfee Total Protection: Update fixes vulnerability CVE-2022-43751

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]McAfee Total Protection had a vulnerability (CVE-2022-43751) that allowed Windows privilege escalation. The cause was the use of the OpenSSL variable OPENSSLDIR. McAfee issued a security alert in late October 2022 pointing out the vulnerability, which has since been closed via update in McAfee Total Protection.

Windows 10: Support for Clover Trail chipsets ends on January 10, 2023

Windows[German]Another information for users who are still running old systems with Windows 10 based on Clover Trail chipsets. The systems are stuck on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and Microsoft had announced at the time that these machines would receive support until 2023. As a reminder, this support for Clover Trail chipsets expires on January 10, 2023.

Microsoft's annoying Windows ads: Edge suggests Bing, PC training notifications

Windows[German]After speculating about subscription and ad-financed low costs PCs from Microsoft, two annoying stories  about that came into my view. An ex-MVP colleague complained about annoying attempts by Microsoft to put Bing as a search engine in Edge. And a blog reader pointed me to an annoying notification about "PC Training" in Windows 20 21H2, but it doesn't work. Windows 11 22H2: Upgrade blocker "Audio out of sync through Xbox Game Bar" removed

Windows[German]Microsoft has fixed an issue with the Xbox Game Bar that caused out-of-sync audio output on affected systems in certain situations. There was an upgrade lock to Windows 11 22H2 on these systems. Since the issue has been fixed, Microsoft will remove the upgrade lock on Windows 11 22H2 in mid of November 2022.
